- Mindfulness is a systematic approach that can help manage stress, anxiety, and pain, or simply promote personal growth and inner peace.
- The goal is to be present inthe “HERE AND NOW”; to prioritize mindfulness and acceptance as an alternative to automatic, pre-programmed reactions driven by habits, beliefs, and dysfunctional fears.
- TOPICS:
- Mindfulness and autopilot: responding to situations by making a conscious choice rather than reacting automatically. Exercises: Raisin meditations; body scan.
- Living in the Mind: Mindfulness of the Moment and the Freedom to Choose; The Importance of the Inner Monologue, Mental Traps. Practices: Breath Meditation.
- Gathering the wandering mind: a mind lost in thoughts returns to the here and now through mindfulness of the breath and focus on the present moment. Practices: Mindful meditation on sounds, visual stimuli, and thoughts; Zen walking;
- Acceptance: approaching experiences with self-compassion and loving-kindness. Practices : Meditation on difficulty; 3-minute breathing space.
- Thoughts are not facts: thoughts are merely mental events.
